•1. Communication
Sixty four percent of Americans say their marriages failed because of communication problems. Communication is a two - way street. No one person can communicate enough to make a marriage work. Communication requires effort and honesty on the part of both partners.
Both must speak -and listen.
•2. Commitment.
Commitment makes two become one. The deeper the commitment,
the deeper the bonding. Commitment is unconditional. God committed himself to us that way, and He expects us to commit to each other.
•3. Control.
Control in a marriage is a joint responsibility. God said the man is to be the head, but it is not to be a dictatorial relationship. It is to cast the deciding vote if ultimately a deciding vote is needed. Authority comes through respect, and respect is earned through submission.
•4. Value.
Each partner must appreciate the other's strengths and weakness. We gain from each other's strength and cover each other's weaknesses.
•5. Togetherness.
Through togetherness we build closeness, intimacy, gratitude and found memories. Our memories should not be of competition or doing things alone, but of fun, closeness and intimacy
