How can I help protect my spouse from an affair ?

•1.    Be the kind of spouse you should be

Someone once said," A man won't go out looking for margarine , if there is butter at home."

  • Do your best to make yourself attractive to your spouse
  • Be dedicated to the one you made those marriage vows to.
  • Be diligent to find out God's plan for your marriage.
  • Together find and read God's principles in the Bible.

•2.    Be sensitive to your spouse's needs

* Ask yourself continualy, " Are you meeting your spouse needs for attention, appreciation, affection  ( Incl. Sexual needs )

* Do Not take your spouse for granted.

* Do not assume that your spouse will continue to put up with constant abuse. Eventually that tolerance cork may blow - and vengeful bitterness may be all that is left.

•3.    Don't be naive

Realize that your mate is vulnerable too !!!

  • Nurture your relationship at all time .
  • Talk - listen to each other - Do things together .

How do I keep myself from an affair

•1.      Guard your mind (1 Pet. 1;13)

Be aware of your vulnerability.  REALLITY:  You are human, and you will get tempted !!!

  • Temptetion becomes sin when we allow an evil thought to "conceive" (James 1:15) in our mind.

•2.      Guard your actions

1 Thess. 4:1-4;  1.  Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.  2.  For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.  3.  It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4.  that each of you should learn to control his own body  in a way that is holy and honorable,   5.  not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

•3.      Avoid temptations

Avoid any appearance of evil

•4.      Keep relationships with the opposite sex within kosher boundaries

Remember: Our Spirit mite be willing to do good, but our flesh is weak !

•5.      Find sufficiency in Jesus Christ.
